LECTURE

North Mayo West Sligo Heritage Group are pleased to announce the return of Alf Monaghan, who will present a lecture entitled ‘ Gods, Demons and Pharaohs’ on Thursday, April 27, at 8 p. m. in the Family Resource Centre, Ardnaree. This time he’ll be tracing the origin of Pre- Christian eastern religions and their impact on Ireland. This is the backstory to his earlier lecture ‘ Monastic Ireland – A gift of the Nile.

ENNISCRONE/ KILGLASS GAA

The Enniscrone- Kilglass/ Easkey minor team got their first win of the Division One campaign with a 1- 14 to 0- 8 defeat of Tubbercurr­y/ Cloonacool last Thursday evening. This was a decent display from the lads with Conal Duffy’s late goal applying to gloss to a solid performanc­e. They play St Molaise Gaels this Thursday evening keep an eye out locally for details.

Our under- 16 boys suffered a 3- 16 to 0- 9 defeat against St Farnan’s/ St Pat’s last Monday evening. Training continues this week. Our under- 14s play Tourlestra­ne next Friday evening at 7 p. m. at home.

Our under- 12 boys had a fantastic day out at Croke Park last Wednesday as they took part in a blitz organised by Connacht GAA. All players acquitted themselves very well on the day with plenty of parents there to cheer them on. Well done to the squad and management on representi­ng the club so well on the hallowed turf. Thanks to Ridgepool Fuels for their sponsorshi­p of tops for the big day. The boys return to domestic duty this Tuesday evening when they play Eastern Harps in the league at 7 p. m. in Keash.

BLOTTO

There was no winner of the € 6,900 jackpot this week. Numbers drawn were 10, 21, and 23. € 25 winners were Patricia Freeman, Eamon Walsh, Colman Larkin and J. Corcoran. Jackpot for the next draw will be € 7,100 and the draw will take place on Saturday, April 22, in Sheridan’s Pub, Kilglass.
