Parking spacesfor School

-

SLIGO County Council is handing over half a hectare of land for a Tubbercurry school to St Nathy’s Diocesan Trust.

The land, along the Ballymote Road in Tubbercurry, will allow the Holy Family National School to build a new set down area and some parking spaces. There is currently no set down area for dropping off or picking up pupils at the school. The Council had been trying to give the school the land but matters were delayed while talks were ongoing between the school and their patron, the diocese, as to who should hold the land.

Sligo County Council must now go back to Councillors and seek their approval to transfer the lands to the Diocese. Local Councillor Jerry Lundy welcomed the news: “Great news for Tubbercurry at long last, the Holy Family School will finally get a car park/ set down area. This is an issue that I , along with my colleagues have been fighting for over the last number of years, and finally the land on the Ballymote road, Tubbercurry will be handed over,” he said. It will go before members for approval on May 8th.
