Famine drama in Cliffoney
A Canadian descendant of a Sligo couple who fled the Famine in 1847 staged a drama about their epic story in Cliffoney and Keash last week.
Rose Marie Stanley’s drama depicted the Famine and journey to Canada as seen through the eyes of her ancestor Sarah ( McDonough) Kaveney who emigrated from Keash with her husband Patrick and six children on board the ill- fated ship The Carricks which sank outside Quebec.
