International recognition for Rovers’ Jack Keaney and Ed McGinty at Slovakia Cup
SLIGO Rovers under 19 stars Jack Keaney and Ed McGinty both played their part in the Republic of Ireland under 18s’ fourth placed finish at last week’s Slovakia Cup.
Keaney was involved in all three of Ireland’s group games which included an impressive 2- 1 win over a strong Turkey side and narrow defeats to both Czech Republic and Turkey.
The Donegal Town man also played in Ireland’s 3rd/ fourth place play- off defeat to Slovakia.
While McGinty also played the full 90 minutes of the Turkey game.
Both teens have played an integral part in Brian Dorrian’s under 19 team which currently sits top of the Northern Elite Division.
An opening day draw with Shels was followed up with wins over Athlone, Drogheda United, Monaghan/ Cavan and Finn Harps.
Sligo Rovers U19s season continues on Sunday May 7th with the visit of Bohemians to the Showgrounds.
