Coolaney take the honours
COOLANEY/ MULLINABREENA took the bragging rights after winning the final of Pole Position 2017.
The sports quiz show organised by Ocean FM and presented by Robert Fitzpatrick has been running for the past 15 weeks, with 16 clubs from a range of sports across the Northwest taking part.
Sligo’s Coolaney/ Mullinabreena GAA Club emerged as the overall winners, taking the € 1000 top prize.
The team of Shane O’Brien, John Marren and Padraig McGourty defeated Eastern Harps by 42 points to 39 overall in the final.
Harps were represented by John O’Neill, Nicholas Murray and Brendan McHugh for the competition. They had overcome St John’s, St Molaise Gaels and Bunninadden en route to the final, while Coolaney/ Mullinabreena had defeated Coolera/ Strandhill, North Sligo Athletic Club and Owenmore Gaels in progressing to the final.
The other clubs to take part in the competition were Aodh Ruadh and Ballyshannon Rugby Club , Manor Rangers and Calry Bohs.
County Sligo Golf Club in Rosses Point, Drumcliffe/ Rosses Point GAA club and Enniscrone/ Kilglass GAA Club also took part in the competition.
