Recently Frank Brady from Manorhamilton, who is a tireless advocate for the Irish in America, was honoured with a prestigious award for Irish Heritage Month by New York’s Westchester County Board of Legislators.
Frank is known throughout the greater New York area for his stalwart work within the Irish and Irish- American community. Upon arriving in New York in the late 1970s, he continued his studies and received Masters and Ph. D. degrees from New York University.
Shortly after, he joined the faculty at Long Island University. He progressed through the ranks to full professor, eventually becoming the Chair of the Department, before retiring in 2014.
Frank has been extensively involved in the New York GAA throughout the years as a player, referee, trainer, manager, mentor, and delegate.
Frank has also managed both the men’s and women’s New York Gaelic football teams. Currently, Frank is a sportswriter for the Irish Echo newspaper.
