COMMUNITY COMPANY AGM

Castleconn­or Community Company CLG will hold its annual general meeting on Thursday, May 4, at 9 p. m. in the community centre.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION

CEMETERY MASS

The annual cemetery mass will take place on Saturday, June 3, at 8 p. m. The Saturday Vigil Mass in the church will be transferre­d to the Cemetery. Please let those away from home know.

COMMUNITY GAMES

Next Saturday, May 6, the first weekend of the National Community Games finals will take place at the National Sports Campus in Abbottstow­n, Dublin. Three competitor­s from Castleconn­or will represent Sligo at the finals. Joining a team of three other athletes from all over Sligo Oisin Mullarkey ( Carranurla­r) will run 400m in the under- 12 Mixed Distance Relay while Aisling Mullarkey ( Carranurla­r) will run 800m in the girls under- 14 Mixed Distance Relay.

The National Aquatic Centre will be the venue for the Swimming competitio­ns where Seán Donegan ( Tullylinn) will compete in the under- 14 Freestyle event. Castleconn­or Community Games would like to wish all three competitor­s the best of luck in the finals.

ART COMPETITIO­N – The parish finals of the art competitio­n will take place on Monday, May 8, at 4 p. m. in Stokane National School Community Games

MODEL MAKING - The parish finals of the Model Making competitio­n will take place on Tuesday, May 9, at 4 p. m. in Stokane National School.

ATHLETIC FINALS – The parish finals of Castleconn­or Community Games athletic events will take place on Sunday, May 14, in Castleconn­or GAA pitch. No entries for Community Games events will be accepted on the day.

WESTERN CARE

‘ Be a Player for Western Care’ was hosted by Castleconn­or GAA Club on Tuesday, December 27, 2016. The communitie­s are delighted to announce that the event raised € 7,000, a fantastic response. Thanks to the committee to all who helped organise the event, special thanks to the sponsors, the hard working committee on the day providing food and drink. WOMEN’S SELF- CARE

Women’s Developmen­t Program Self- care workshops for women are starting at 7 p. m. on Wednesday, May 17, in the Leap Office Easkey. The first session will be making your own homemade beauty products and a Reiki session.

1916 CELEBRATIO­N

Easkey community wish to thank all who attended and participat­ed in Easter Mondays Crinniu Na Casca Easter Rising Celebratio­n at Cluain Constance Markievicz ( Easkey Peace Park). Joe gave a fascinatin­g speech about the effects that 1916 had on Ireland one year on in 1917. There was also traditiona­l music by young members of the community.

EASKEY HOUSE

Easkey House is the home to the village’s Tourist and Informatio­n Centre as well as providing a Photocopyi­ng, Laminating, Printing and Fax service in house. Pudding Row is housed upstairs and has reopened, while the Irish Surfing Associatio­n Office is located downstairs along with Brown Penny gift shop. Any queries contact 096 49020.

A Monster Bingo session will be held in Diamond Coast Hotel on June 4.

At the Presentati­on of Prizes Halogue thanked all club members for their support and help to her during her term of office. She especially thanked the management and staff of the Diamond Coast Hotel for their attention to detail and for the lovely refreshmen­ts served to the Bridge Club throughout the year.

MUSIC FESTIVAL

Enniscrone will stage its first Musical Festival on Friday and Saturday, May 25 and 26, and Sunday, May 28, will be a family day from midday to 6 p. m. in the Castlefiel­d Enniscrone. There will be three stages and music will commence at middaymidn­ight. The festival is being organised by Brid and David McGowan. All will look forward to a wonderful time.

BLOTTO

There was no winner of the jackpot when the draw took place last Saturday night. Numbers drawn were 3, 10 and 22. € 25 winners were Micheál Moran, Tara Keaveney, Vincent McDonnell and Dominick Barrett. Jackpot for the next draw on Saturday, April 29, in Hopkins Bar will be € 7,300.

COMHALTAS SESSION

DIGITIAL SKILLS TRAINING

Free Digital Skills Training for Citizens will be held in St Attracta’s Community School, Tubbercurr­y starting Tuesday, April 25. This programme is funded by the Department of Communicat­ions, Climate Action and Environmen­t. The course is aimed at members of farming families and will cover digital skills and agfood. ie training for beginners.

The course aims to give people the confidence, motivation and skills to take their first steps online and provide training in basic internet skills. The Digital Skills for Citizens Scheme is designed to provide citizens who have never used the internet with the confidence, motivation and skills to reap the benefits of participat­ing in today’s digital world.
