COS COS FESTIVAL
THE annual Cos Cos Sean- Nós Festival, now in its 11th year, brings together some of the country’s finest Sean- Nós dancers, musicians, singers, poets and storytellers.
Taking place over the week of the 1st to the 7th of May, the festival was blessed with the sunshine as it saw people travelling far and wide to witness some of the finest traditional entertainment in the North West.
Cos Cos welcomed Anúna as the headline act for the 2017 festival. Founded in 1987 by Irish composer Michael McGlynn, the group has recorded 17 albums and achieved huge international success over the years. The sold out concert was a roaring success and took place in the splendid surroundings of St Columba’s Church in Drumcliffe last Friday the 5th May.
Brenda O’Callaghan, one of the founding members of the festival said the festival is getting bigger and better every year: “We get feedback from people and vary the different acts that might appeal to new audiences. The week was a great success we had everything from dance exhibitions to storytelling.”
