Forthill park to be named after Seamie
SLIGO County Council has agreed to name the park in Forthill after the late Seamie O’Boyle. The motion was proposed by Cllr Declan Bree and unanimously adopted at Monday’s meeting of the Council. He said: “The fact the entire membership of the Council has submitted the motion speaks volumes of the esteem in which our late colleague Cllr Seamie O’Boyle, was held by his fellow councillors. Seamie’s sudden and untimely death in August 2015 stunned the people of this community. He was just settling in a member of this Council with a huge amount to offer when he was so tragically taken from us. He was a political representative who put on no airs and graces and who consistently stood by the ordinary people of this community.
“His heavy involvement in a voluntary capacity in junior soccer over the decades brought him into close contact with generations of young people and his devotion to his beloved Glenview Stars could not be surpassed. He gave of his time year after year playing with and eventually managing Glenview Stars.”
