Teaching the magic of music with the Teenage Showcase

-

MORE than 60 teenagers will take part in the first ever ‘ Kieran Quinn’s Teenage Theme Showcase’ this week in the Hawk’s Well Theatre.

It is a continuation of the teenage nights held in the Model over the past 3 years, but on a bigger scale, featuring more performers, a full band, backing vocals, a choir and a 17- piece orchestra.

These workshops have been designed to teach teenage musicians about aspects of music such as performance, arranging, microphone technique, stage presence and talking to an audience.

The theme is film music and the show will feature 23 iconic songs from well- known films.

Kieran said the Teenage Theme night series is one of the most rewarding projects that he has been involved in.

“My vision is to put on a top- level showcase featuring the best of teenage talent – for singers and instrumentalists alike. Having something like this to aspire to will hopefully encourage even more people to take up instruments, join musical groups and receive the many benefits that come with learning music in Sligo.”

The project is possible thanks to the support of EJ’s Menswear,

“EJ’s have given us the support necessary to give the teenagers more rehearsal time, more education and more knowledge about how to put on a great performance,” says Kieran.
