Punched boot of car as he left house party

A 23- year- old man punched the boot of a car as he left a house party at 5.30am when Gardaí were called.

Summoned for engaging in offensive conduct at Glencarrai­g, Ballinode on August 18th last was Daniel Dolphin, Deroon, Ballymote.

Inspector Donal Sweeney said Gardaí were called to the estae at 5.30am after reports of a house party there. When Gardaí arrived a number of people were leaving the house and were walking in the direction of the The Brewery pub.

One of these was the defendant who was observed punching the boot of a car whichy was parked outside a house.

The defendant was arrested and was subsequent­ly issued with an on the spot ticketfor disorderly conduct but the fine wasn’t paid.

Ms Laura Spellman, solicitor ( defending) said the fine wasn’t paid as the defendant wasn’t in receipt of of social welfare at the time. He was very apologetic for his behaviour and he didn’t have any previous conviction­s, pleaded Ms Spellman.

Judge Grainne O’Neill adjourned the case for three weeks to allow the defendant pay € 200 to North West Hospice.

If this was paid then the Probation Act would be applied. If it wasn’t the defendant would be fined € 200.
