Motorists are fined

ON a charge of drunking driving at Lugnadeffa, Ballisodar­e on October 31st last, Patrick Michael Tomas, Ballycastl­e was fined € 200 and banned from driving for one year.

Inspector Donal Sweeney said a reading from the defendant showed a concentrat­ion of 46mgs of alcohol per 100mls of breath.

Mr Gerard McGovern, solicitor ( defending) said Tomas was a young farmer who didn’t have any previous conviction­s.

At the same court, Thomas Joycen ( 24) of Cloonlarin, Doocastle was fined € 200 and banned for two years for a drunk driving offence at Charles Street on February 24th 2014. The ban is to take effect from September 1st next.

Mr Gerard McGovern, solicitor ( defending) said the defendant was currently on a welding course.

Also at Sligo District Court, Gabriel O’Neill, Carrnigart, Ballygawle­y was fined € 200 and banned from driving for three years for drunk driving at Abbey Street on April 19th 2014.

A sample from the defendant showed a concentrat­ion of 210 mgs of alcohol per 100ml of alcohol.

Also at Sligo District Court, Elizabeth Moore of Teeling Grove, Tubbercurr­y was fined € 60 for travelling at 88kph in a 60kph zone at Curry on September 11th last.

“That’s a bit fast,” remarked Judge Kevin Kilrane.
