SUMMER CAMPS

registrati­on for our 2017 summer Camps opens on Monday, May 8. The cost of the camp is € 80 per child. To secure your place please call to the Main Office upstairs in the Avalon Centre to complete the registrati­on form along with a minimum booking deposit of € 20. The remaining balance must be paid two WEEKS before the start of the camp.

Camp dates: Week one, Junior Camp ( six- to 10- year- olds) – third to July 7. Week two, Senior Camp ( 11- to 15- year- olds) – 10th to July 14. Week three, Junior Camp ( six- to 10- year- olds) – 17th to July 21. Week four, Senior Camp ( 11- to 15- year- olds) – 24th to July 28, Community Employment.

The Avalon Centre has an area of opportunit­y to work on our DSP funded Community Employment ( CE) project. We currently wish to recruit a support worker for our social day- care centre. DRAMA/ GUITAR

New terms in both drama and guitar will commence on May 10. Drama: Juniors ( 6- 9 years) – from 4 p. m. to 5 p. m.; Seniors ( 10- 12 years) from 5 p. m. to 6 p. m. Guitar: Juniors ( 6- 9 years) – from 4.30 p. m. to 5.30 p. m. ; Seniors ( 9- 12 years) from 5.30 p. m. to 6.30 p. m.

YOUTH CLUBS

The Junior Club is an integrated activity club for children aged six to 10. Programmes include sports, dance, singling, cookery and arts and crafts. The Junior Club runs Monday and Wednesday from 6.30 p. m. to 8 p. m.

The Senior Club is for young people aged 10- 14. Programmes also include sports, dance, singing, cookery and arts and crafts. The Senior Club runs on Tuesday and Thursday from 7 p. m. to 9 p. m.

BABY/ TODDLER GROUP

The Busy Buddies Baby and toddler group is our new and second day for parents and toddlers. It continues every Monday in the Avalon Centre, Chapel Street, from 11 a. m.- 12, 30 p. m. Parents, grandparen­ts and carers are all welcome. There’s lots of physical activity, play time, sand and water play, ball pond for toddlers and a baby corner for the little ones. Tea and coffee and snacks provided. € 3 per family. Ages 0- 4 years old.

PARENT/ TODDLER GROUP

The popular Little Buddies Parent and Toddler Group continues on Wednesdays from 10.30 a. m. to midday, during the school term. This is a toddler group for children aged 0- 4 years. Parents, grandparen­ts and carers are all welcome. Pre- schoolers can have fun with art and craft, messy play, cookery, music, games, story- time, physical activity and play time- all for just € 3 per family. YOUNG/ PREGNANT MUMS

Young mums and young pregnant mums is a new group for young mums and young mums to be ( under the age of 25) which takes place in the Avalon Centre on Thursday mornings from 11 a. m. to midday.

Take this opportunit­y to relax and enjoy a chat over a cup of tea or coffee in a fun and friendly atmosphere.

There will be weekly activities, informativ­e talks and workshops, singing, story- time and a large selection of toys. Snacks will also be provided. Please contact Paula at 071 9161836 for further informatio­n.

BINGO

Avalon Bingo takes place on Friday nights, with prizes on offer. Double books are € 15; single books, € 10; half books, € 5 and single sheets, € 1.

MEN’S BOWLS CLUB

The bowls club meets on Wednesday from 11 a. m. to 1 p. m.

COMMUNITY ALARMS

Cranmore Community Co- operative in their aim to support older persons in the community are presently taking grant applicatio­ns for the Seniors Alert Alarm Scheme administer­ed by the Co- op and managed by the Department of Environmen­t, community, and Local Government.

The purpose of the scheme is to ensure that older people without sufficient means continue to live securely in their own home with confidence, independen­ce and peace of mind. Funding will be available for the purchase and installati­on of personal monitored alarms.

Qualifying persons must be over 65 years of age, and living alone or with another qualified person. Please do not hesitate to contact Sue Mahon at the Co- op office with any queries at 071914995.

Public Health Nurses are in Cranmore Co- op Offices, 11 Devins Drive every Tuesday from 2 p. m. to 3.30 p. m.

CRANMORE SOCCER

HALL HIRE

Our Centre is available for room and hall hire at very competitiv­e rates, and we offer excellent facilities for sports, meetings, parties and social events, including our sports hall, changing rooms with showers etc. Our hall is very popular for sports events, and also for children’s parties as it can accommodat­e a bouncy castle. Do pop in to have a look, or call the centre on 914 6512.

PENDANT ALARMS

Merville Centre facilitate on behalf of our community the provision to eligible persons of social monitored pendant alarms, under the Seniors Alert Scheme that is administer­ed by POBAL. Equipment funding is available for eligible persons over 65 years for the installati­on of an monitored alarm on a landline in the persons home. The annual monitoring charge is then payable by the user. Contact merville centre office at 071 9150029 for further informatio­n.
