The litter pick is finished and thanks to all that helped it was a great success. We are in the process of getting the flowers for planting. We are continuing our collection of photos from around the parish and a gathering/ presentati­on is planned for the end of May. Contact any committee member.

CARROWMORE SCHOOL

The friends of Carrowmore School group have announced plans for a Rambling house/ social event in the School on Saturday, August 12, More details to follow.

GAA UPDATE

The local 25 card game continues every Friday in St Nathy’s Hall at 9 p. m.

DANCING

Set dancing is on in St Nathy’s Hall every Thursday at 8.30 p. m. and social dancing every Monday at 8 p. m. for beginners and 9 p. m. for all others.

Farmestiva­l Supporting Local, a free event in conjunctio­n with Bank of Ireland, Sligo Leader and Homeland will take place at Aurivo Mart in Ballymote on Wednesday, May 10, from 6 p. m. to 8 p. m.

LOTTO

There was no winner of the Ballymote lotto jackpot on April 29 Numbers drawn were 12, 15, 18 and 26. There were five match- three winners, names of winners displayed locally. The jackpot now stands at € 6,000. The next draw will take place in Tighe’s Old Stand on Saturday, May 13, Thank you for your continued support.

Congratula­tions to Aaron Brennan, Elizabeth Tighe, Orlaith Connolly, Eimear Connolly and Nadia Stafford on their excellent achievemen­ts at the North Connacht Athletics Championsh­ips on Tuesday, May 2. They will progress to the Connacht Championsh­ips in Athlone in the coming weeks.

Congratula­tions also to Stephen Cafferky, Jason Dwyer, Aaron Brennan, Alan Dunleavy, Patrick McDonagh and David Taylor ( Under- 15 boys’ Table Tennis team) who secured fourth in Ireland in the all- Ireland Table Tennis finals in the National Basketball Arena, Tallaght on Thursday, April 27.

Sympathy is extended to the family, relatives and friends of Kathleen McDonagh, Swinford, whose death occurred recently.

The County Fleadh Cheoil will be held this year in Sligo Town hosted by the Sligo Town Branch CCE. and the Fred Finn Branch CCE. It will take place on Saturday, June 3, and Sunday, June 4, There will be an Official opening and concert in the Sligo Park Hotel on Saturday night, May 27, commencing at 8 p. m. Also a concert on the Friday night, June 2, at 8 p. m. in Riverside Hotel with lots of musicians, singers and dancers There will be street entertainm­ent on the Saturday and Sunday of the Fleadh and all are welcome.

EASTERN HARPS

After many years hard work fundraisin­g and planning, works will shortly commence on our new clubhouse in Keash. To see the project through, the club needs to raise more money and are launching a ‘ Buy a Block’ ticket selling event. Someone may call to your house during this and the club hopes for ongoing support. Overall prizes to a value of € 4,000 in final draw next November and there will be six monthly draws till then for Garden Equipment. Tickets are € 5 each or a book of six tickets for all draws is € 20.

Congratula­tions to the children of Keash and Culfadda National Schools, who celebrated their First Holy Communions last weekend. We hope that this very special event in their young lives, was truely enjoyed by all.

YOUR NOTES

After 30 years, John Higgins has retired from his position as local correspond­ent for the Sligo Champion in preparing the Keash/ Culfadda notes. No words can reflect our level of gratitute to John for the time and effort he devoted quietly to attending to this task, on behalf of our community. We wish him well.
