‘ THE BANKS WILL NOT THWART MY AMBITIONS’

McGowan says he won’t make the mistake of ‘ signing his life away’ by doing what banks want

- By PAUL DEERING

THE banks have told him they could be left with tonnes of scrap if he doesn’t provide guarantees for the loans he wants to get to open his glamping village in Enniscrone but David McGowan says he fund his venture through his Facebook page friends.

Mr McGowan told The Sligo Champion this week that he will not be beaten in his attempts to open the unique park by next summer and says a crowd fund campaign will raise the necessary thousands for him to achieve his ambition.

He claims the country’s banks aren’t interested in seeing investment in the West of Ireland and if he succeeds in his crowd fund campaign which will see people pledgde € 100, it will be a good lesson for any young person wishing to set up a business in the region.

The undertaker said he just wasn’t prepared to put his family home and business at risk so won’t use them as guarantees against bank loans.

Nevertheless he says his dream is still alive and will achieve his goal. See Page 14
