What do you want to be?
HUNDREDS of second level students across Sligo were presented with possible answers to that eternal question last Thursday at the inaugural North West Career Fest.
Instigated by the Institute of Guidance Counsellor’s Sligo/ Longford Branch which includes Guidance Counsellors from the town’s main schools, it featured exhibitors from the higher education sector, industry, state organisations and the voluntary sector.
The event was held at IT Sligo. Students were reassured that the West of Ireland is “open for business” and there are good employment opportunities for students when they leave school or college.
It gave a platform locally for students from the region to meet with colleges, training bodies, and local businesses. They also experienced visiting a third level institution and had the opportunity to attend brief lectures/ talks.
