Shamrock Gaels which will be played after the Leaving Certificate. Mens Division 4 result Coolaney/ Mullinabreena GAA Club 3- 15 Owenmore Gaels GAA Club 1- 15. The division 4 mens team were beaten in Cloonacool. It was a close game with 2 quick fire goals from Coolaney the main difference. Our lads gave everything to get back into game but came up short. Well done to two players at each end of the spectrum, 17- yearold Tony Fox making his Senior debut and Gerry Dooner, a few years older than Tony, coming off the bench to good effect. The U16 girls were comprehensively beaten by Calry on Tuesday Evening. We conceded 6 goals in the opening 10 minutes of the game and left ourselves with a mountain to climb. Great credit to the girls who battled bravely to the final whistle , scoring 1.13 in the process. We will have to improve significantly as we will now play the same opposition in the League Final in 2 weeks’ time. Well Done to the Owenmore Gaels U- 8 boys and girls who took to the field in Ballydoogan last Wednesday. The boys faced a vastly more experienced St. Marys team but battled well. The girls in the first EVER match on their own did themselves , families and club proud .

Well done to the Sligo U- 14 girls who beat Mayo in Connacht B Final on a scoreline of 3- 2 to 1- 10. The side was captained by our very own Erin Taheny and Hannah Walsh is also a member of the panel.

The club is deeply saddened to have learned of the passing of Michael Leydon Church View, Collooney. Sympathies are extended to his wife Mary, Son Tom, daughers Jennifer and Michelle and to Michael’s brothers and sisters and the extended Leydon family. Michael’s son Tom has played with club at all levels and only recently finished playing with the men’s team . The club extends its deepest sympathies.

In a tight contest, our lads trailed by a point at the break, 1- 4 to 0- 6, but hit the front in the second half. Best wishes and speedy recovery to Rory McHugh who sustained an injury late on in the game. Our U- 16 boys played out a cracking 4- 17 to 5- 14 draw with Castleconnor on Monday evening at Quigabar. In a very exciting encounter, our boys overturned a six- point halftime deficit to lead in the closing stages but a late Castleconnor goal ensured the game ended all square. The squad have a break in competitive action this week – training continues. Our U- 14s return to league action this Friday evening when they take on Tubbercurry/ Cloonacool in Tubbercurry at 7pm. The result means our lads have four wins from four with one round remaining in the group stage. They have a break for two weeks before a meeting with Easkey on May 30th. Best of luck to the Sligo senior footballers in their Connacht Championship quarter- final against Mayo next Sunday.
