SCHOOLS FOOTBALL PROGRAMME

St John’s GAA Club hosted a school blitz on Friday last. The schools included St Enda’s, Carraroe, Mercy Primary, Pearse Road and St John’s, Temple Street. The girls played for ‘ The Galvin Cup’ and the boys played for the ‘ The Fr Murray Cup’. This was the inaugural year for this competitio­n. Congratula­tions to all pupils, teachers and organisers involved.

FOOTPATH FROM CHURCH TO MOLLY FULTON’S

CADRA has written to each of our elected councillor­s prioritisi­ng the clearing of the existing footpath from the church to Molly Fulton’s as our project for assignment of enhancemen­t money for 2017. The cost is currently being establishe­d by Sligo County Council engineerin­g staff. We look forward to each of the 10 municipal councillor­s making a contributi­on. Please contact your local council representa­tive and request them to make a contributi­on.

TIDY TOWNS

We are preparing our entry to the National Tidy Towns competitio­n and appeal to all residents to undertake some extra cleaning around own property. We would be open to organising a garden competitio­n aspect. If people wish to enter such a competitio­n please contact any committee member. We would also ask people not to erect temporary posters and remove those erected form the area to assist us with our applicatio­n process as such receive negative comments by adjudicato­rs.

HEALTH/ SOCIAL CARE NEEDS ASSESSMENT.

CADRA has been approved for a lottery grant to undertake a health/ social services needs assessment in the area. A steering group of all stakeholde­rs will be formed to guide and progress the project. All local groups and stakeholde­rs will be invited to inform the outcome by providing feedback/ ideas with the objective of having a system that allows people remain in own home with their needs met in an innovative and supportive system.

SPRING CLEAN RESULT

CADRA want to again acknowledg­e and thank all who assisted remove 6.5 tons of rubbish from the area during our annual spring clean- up on Saturday, April 21, 17. Well done to all involved. We appeal to all residents to assist us keep the area clean by observing for illegal dumping and letting CADRA know so we can have authoritie­s take action. We thank Mullane Plant Hire for generously sweeping the roads around Carraroe last week.

ALZHEIMER CAFE SLIGO

The Cafe is usually held in View Bar – Glasshouse Hotel from 11 a. m. to 1 p. m. with different speakers providing very informativ­e and appropriat­e informatio­n. This is a free event and anyone impacted by Alzheimer/ Dementia is welcome to attend. This is a great opportunit­y to meet people impacted by Alzheimer/ Dementia and obtain informatio­n and support. CADRA WORK EVENING

CADRA is having a regular work evening each Tuesday commencing at 7.30 p. m. We would appreciate assistance of people to tidy up and planting etc around the area. Please meet at the Community Centre. We thank those that came and assisted us erect a wind barrier to protect the hedging and roses planted in front of Community Centre.

We again appeal to parents to use the dedicated walled off parking area at school to drop and collect children. Double yellow lines have been placed in the area and An Garda Síochána will be enforcing the law.
