FOURTH ALL- IRELAND WIN

A brilliant all- Ireland Scór win was registered by the Glencar/ Manor figure dance troupe at the recent GAA national cultural finals in Belfast’s Waterfront Hall and indeed it was Glencar/ Manor’s fourth time claiming this Irish title.

The members of the Glencar/ Manor troupe that tasted allIreland success on Saturday were Aoife Feeney, Niamh Fox, Holly Beardmore, Bronagh Rooney, Declan Byrne, Brendan Byrne, Owen Clancy and Evan Sweeney.

The triumphant Glencar/ Manor dancers received a tumultuous welcome back to Manorhamilton. Eugene Sweeney and Eugene Clancy organised a victory bonfire near Manorhamilton Livestock Mart to greet the new all- Ireland champions.

The dancers and their many supporters then proceeded to the Market Square with the AlIreland Scór Cup and medals for a formal welcome home that was organised by the Glencar/ Manor GAA Club.

Addressing the all- Ireland winning dancers and the large crowd in attendance at the Market Square, Glencar/ Manor Vice- chairperson Collette Fox noted ‘ if there was a national hall of Fame award for a successful Scór dancing coach surely Clare Faragher McMorrow would be the first person in Ireland to receive it.’

Clare has the unique distinction of coaching all of Glencar/ Manor’s four all- Ireland winning figure dancing troupes since the club’s first success in this national event in Millstreet Co. Cork on May 22, 1993. This year Clare was joined in the Glencar/ Manor dancing troupe’s coaching duties by Aidan McLoughlin.

Following the Belfast success, Glencar/ Manor now has six double all- Ireland Scór figure dance medal holders, namely Diarmuid Sweeney, Damien O’Brien, Suzanne Gilligan (‘ 93 and ‘ 99); Amanda Sweeney (‘ 99 and ‘ 11); Bronagh Rooney, Brendan Byrne (‘ 11 and ‘ 17).
