IRELAND’S TOUGHEST MUCKERS

Registrati­on is now open for Ireland’s Toughest Muckers challenge which will take place once again in Lough Key Forest Park on Saturday, June 10, The 10k obstacle challenge will have a number of new features this year. A ‘ Little Muckers’ course is added this year for participan­ts under 16 years of age with all money raised from this section going to a nominated children’s charity. This is the fifth year for Toughest Muckers to be held in Boyle and early indication­s are that it will be a sell- out event. The market is now open for organic fruit and vegetables, organic eggs, olive oil, Achill sea salt, bread, grow truck vegetarian meals, juices, award winning cakes, jams, tarts, honey, hand knits and plants and herbs. The market will be open from 10 a. m. till 2 p. m. each and every Saturday.

SUICIDE ALERTNESS EVENING IN BOYLE.

Boyle Family Resource Centre are hosting safeTALK suicide alertness for everyone on Monday, May 29, 7 p. m. to 10 p. m. The aim of this evening is to increase the ability to promote the immediate safety of someone who may be at risk of suicide and provide links to further help. This training is suitable for everyone who wants to help prevent suicide and is prepared to become a suicide alert helper, safeTALK suicide alert helpers are trained to: Move beyond common tendencies to miss, dismiss or avoid suicide: Identify people who have thoughts of suicide: Apply the TALK steps to connect a person with suicidal thoughts to people and agencies that can help. Booking is essential and booking forms are available from the centre. Places must be booked before May 19 This course is free.
