St. John’s pupils adopt a tiger at Dublin Zoo

-

ROOM 9 at St. John’s National School enjoyed a big day out recently when they visited Dublin Zoo.

The children decided to adopt an endangered animal and chose a tiger in Dublin Zoo after they had money left over having sending gifts to Trocaire.

The group wanted to do something worthwhile and good for mankind, having held a bake sale after Christmas. The children received a certificate, a badge and a picture of their tiger called Niamh.

They were also invited to Dublin Zoo to meet their tiger! “On the 10th of May we travelled to Dublin by train and received a warm and helpful welcome from Iarnrod Eireann with reserved seats and a pre tour of the train,” explained teacher Orna McAndrew.

“The children had an amazing day in the Zoo and they loved meeting Niamh the tiger.

“I am so proud of them all,” she added.
