Diarmuid Gavin set to bring theatre show to Hawk’s Well

-

DIARMUID Gavin decided one day that he wanted to challenge himself more.

The well known garden designer and TV personality felt he needed to scare himself a bit more as he tours around the country.

Gavin visits the Hawk’s Well Theatre this Saturday evening. Tickets are € 20 and are available from the Box Office on 071 9161518 or www. hawkswell. com.

“I can’t wait for my performance in Sligo. I’m scared and I’m excited. I’ve never done a theatre type thing before so I’m scared of that. I’ll be taking people through the world of gardening and I’ll be telling all sorts of funny stories alone the way,” he told The Sligo Champion.

The theatre setting is somewhat new to Mr. Gavin, but it’s a challenge he relishes.

“I did lots of talks in so many different places and settings and while they would always go well, I felt I wasn’t challenging myself anymore. So I thought ‘ where am I going with this?’. It’s a personal challenge for myself really.”

Mr. Gavin says his show is suitable for garden enthusiasts and even those with very little interest in gardening.

“It’s really an elaborate slide show. The first part is my story and what inspired me. The second part is a bit more adventurous, and the third part is all about the remarkable world of gardening really.

“It’s really aimed at gardeners, aimed are people who are interested in gardening and all.

“But then it’s interesting for people who aren’t that big into gardening as well.

“I’ve done projects in different places and it’s always seemed to go down very well,” he said.

He has been gardening for over three decades now and says the nation is more interested in gardening that ever before.

Mr. Gavin appeared on Friday night’s Late Late Show, speaking about his Willy Wonka garden, which is one of his favourite projects.
