Donegal take Celtic win
SLIGO played Donegal in the third round of the Celtic Challenge in Aodh Rua, Ballyshannon on Wednesday last. Donegal were first on the scoreboard with a point from play. Sligo replied with a point from Andrew Kilcullen. Donegal got the next three points before Thomas Cawley got a second for Sligo from a free.
At half time Donegal led 0- 7 to 0- 5.
Donegal were first off the mark in the second half with a point. Sligo continued to battle in what was a very tough and physical game and reduced the deficit to a single point, 0- 10 to 0- 9.
It was Donegal who finished stronger with the final two points. Oisín Brady was forced out of the game in the second half due to injury which was a great blow to the half back line. Roan Conneely put in a good performance for Sligo in the half forwards.
Overall Sligo will be disappointed with this performance and with the number of wides. Fionn Moylan who is injured was a big loss to the side.
Cahan Hallinan received the “Best and Fairest Award” for Sligo. The team will be hoping for a big improvement in the next round against Roscommon.
