CONCERT IN CHURCH
Concert will take place tonight at 8 p. m. in St Joseph’s Church. Featuring Something to Sing About Sligo and the Sligo Gospel Choir. Proceeds in aid of Sligo Cancer Support Centre and Shout Sligo Hospital Oncology Unit Trust. Admission Free. Donations on the night welcome.
CPR/ AED
CADRA wishes Sooey/ Ballygawley Group every success with the proposal to provide AED machines in the area. This will involve fundraising to purchase the machines and provide training to the residents of the area. This is a very important community initiative and we appeal to all to support the effort. CADRA has indicated any assistance or support we can offer is available to the committee.
FOOTPATH
CADRA has written to each of our elected councillors prioritising the clearing of the existing footpath from the church to Molly Fulton’s as our project for assignment of enhancement money for 2017. The cost is currently being established by Sligo County Council engineering staff. We look forward to each of the 10 municipal councillors making a contribution. Please contact your local council representative and request them to make a contribution.
DOG FOULING
People walking their dogs on Carraroe roads are requested to remove fouling and not to dump into hedges as the plastic bags do not disintegrate and have to be removed by litter pickers – please bring home and bin. There is an on the spot fine of € 150 for such offences. Pooper – scoopers are available free from Sligo County Council.
FIRST COMMUNION
Congratulation to the boys and girls who received the Sacrament of First Communion on Saturday. We wish them well in the future.
LAKEVIEW ICA
The monthly meeting of Lakeview ICA is held in Carraroe Community Centre on first Tuesday of month at 8 p. m. New members always welcome – for more information contact Mary at 086 3755849.
ST JOHN’S GAA CLUB
LOTTO – jackpot € 10,600. No jackpot winner. Numbers drawn were 3, 7, 9 and 16. Winners of € 25 were Shane Keavney c/ o Courtyard Cafe, Its Mulligan Greenfort Estate, Edward Blake Drumiskabole, Laura Newell Caltragh Heights. The lotto can be purchased in Canning’s House and garden, Molly Fulton’s Restaurant, Crozon Inn Crozon, Blue Lagoon Riverside, McMorrow’s Shop Cairns Road, Clifford Electrical Carraroe. Next draw is on May 27 in Clubhouse. All club members send best wishes to Charlie Harrison and his Sligo team- mates for their upcoming Connacht quarter final against Mayo next Sunday.
COMPETITION FOR GALVIN CUP AND FR MURRAY CUP – St John’s GAA Club hosted this competition in Markievicz Park. The schools included St Enda’s, Carraroe, Mercy Primary, Pearse Road and St John’s, Temple Street. The girls played for ‘ The Galvin Cup’ and the boys played for the ‘ The Fr Murray Cup’.
This was the inaugural year for this competition. St Enda’s NS Carroare won the Galvin Cup and St John’s NS Temple St won the Fr Murray cup Congratulations to all pupils’ teachers and organisers involved.
CADRA TIDY TOWNS
We are in advance stage of planning a new raised bed at the junction from Carraroe to roundabout. We want to thank Lucy from Sligo County Council Parks department for her guidance and support with this project. The regular work evening is each Tuesday commencing at 7.30 p. m. We would appreciate assistance of people to tidy up and planting etc around the area. Please meet at the Community Centre.
The entry form to the National Tidy Towns competition has been submitted. We appeal to all residents to undertake some extra cleaning around their property.
NEEDS ASSESSMENT
CADRA has received a lottery grant to undertake a health/ social services needs assessment in the area. We will soon be tendering for company to undertake the study and prepare the report under the guidance of a local stakeholder group.
