3 BOB KELLY: THE VISION

When a young boy from a rural area in the west of Ireland claims to have seen an apparition of a female figure clothed in light, the local village - burdened by decades of economic deprivatio­n, unemployme­nt and emigration - has to decide how to react. This is the fourth work- in- progress reading presented by Bob Kelly as part of his two year theatre artist residency at the Hawk’s Well this Thursday the 25th of May from 8.00pm. Admission is free.

5 CREAKING

Rita is tired of her humdrum existence. Her adult children are getting on her nerves and she misses her best pal Mary. It’s time to spice up her life! Creaking is based on the lives of real- life Irish people in later years. Taking place this Friday the 26 May from 7.30pm. 6 MASTERCLAS­S WITH RONNIE HUGHES

Taking in his gallery exhibition, artist Ronnie Hughes will lead a conceptual and practical Masterclas­s on the use of colour this Saturday the 27 May in the Model from 11.00am- 5.00pm. The Masterclas­s will encompass a discussion on his practice, a slide talk about colour and a hands- on afternoon workshop. Tickets are € 70/ 60 conc. COUNTY SLIGO FLEADH

The County Fleadh Cheoil will be held this year in Sligo Town hosted by the Sligo Town Branch CCE and the Fred Finn Branch CCE. It will take place on Saturday June 3 and Sunday June 4. There will also be a concert on the Friday night June 2 at 8.00pm in the Riverside hotel with lots of musicians, singers and dancers. There will be street entertainm­ent on the Saturday and Sunday of the Fleadh and all are welcome. There will be an official opening and concert in the Sligo Park Hotel on this Saturday night, May 27 commencing at 8.00pm.

8 THE MASS BAND AT 5TH ON TEELING

A disco- funk, dance extravagan­za, with smattering­s of pop and rock, from the 70’ s right through to present day. MASS kick out the jams with a huge catalogue of quirky covers, dance- floor hopping mash- ups, and mind- bending medleys! From the disco inferno of a world famous, weekly jam session in Sligo, hurled into existence was a groove- hungry, power sextet of musicians, that won’t stop ‘ til you get enough, and are fully intent on making you freak out! They are playing 5th on Teeling this Friday the 27th of May.

COLOUR DASH SLIGO

Ireland’s most fun 5k family fun run is back this summer, returning to Doorly Park, Sligo this Sunday the 28 May 2017 from 10.00pm. At Colour Dash, participan­ts run, walk or jog as they are pelted by powdered paint at each kilometre along the route. Each km represents a different cancer as well as cancer survivorsh­ip. DIARMUID GAVIN

Internatio­nally- renowned gardener Diarmuid Gavin has announced that he will be taking his one- man show around the country. Diarmuid’s show explores the world of gardening, with stories of his antics at the Chelsea Flower Show and also tells of the history of outdoor design from around the globe. The show is an exciting evening of fun and adventure, as well as giving the audience a wide range of gardening tips and advice as Diarmuid shares his experience and knowledge.
