FG Leader hopeful Leo Varadkar pays visit to Sligo newly weds

FINE Gael activist Blaine Gaffney wed his childhood sweetheart Danielle Kelly at the weekend and Fine Gael Leader hopeful Leo Varadkar TD made a surprise visit for the occasion.

Blaine who is off on honeymoon to Thailand next week was thrilled that Leo took time out from his hectic schedule to attend the celebratory mass last Saturday afternoon.

Deputy Varadkar met with local Fine Gael TD Tony McLoughlin beforehand in the Sligo Park Hotel. Deputy McLoughlin said: “It was a productive meeting. I’m confident that Leo listens to our concerns here in the North West and if elected leader of the country will be good for this region. He has already a proven track record in taking on board issues I’ve raised like the N4 project and the 24 hour out of hours GP care service for Sligo.

Minister for Social Protection Leo Varadkar said he was ‘ humbled by the support from TD’s and councillors in the North West.’ Campaigning in the leadership contest between Simon Coveney TD and Varadkar has concluded. Voting for party members takes place in the Sligo Park Hotel this Thursday evening from 6 to 10pm. Councillors also vote during the week while TDs are the last to cast their ballot on Friday morning.
