FAMOUS ROSSES POINT BAR JOINS SLIGO FOOD TRAIL

-

One of Sligo’s oldest bar/ restaurants, Austie’s in Rosses Point officially re- opens on Thursday for the summer season.

The Sligo Food Trail’s newest member will be launching its new extended summer menu at an invitation event the previous evening.

The landmark 200 year old bar has made a name for itself with seafood dishes. John and Lorna promise lots on Wednesday from Charlie Kelly’s mussels to oysters.

If the sunshine lets everyone down, seats by the open turf fire will be in high demand.

There will be traditional music on the night and Damien Brennan will entertain guests with his Yeats Experience.

Andersons, Lough Gill Brewery local craft beer is a speciality in the old worlde bar which also features an extensive range of whiskeys and gin.

Austie’s prides itself on a relaxed atmosphere with casual dining and good quality fresh food with homemade recipes using locally sourced produce where possible.

The menu is seasonal and dishes range from local Lissadell mussels, calamari, fish and chips to homemade gourmet beef burgers, steaks and house salads.

They also have a great pizza menu, all are homemade on site and have a selection of interesting toppings all with a maritime theme.

Children are very welcome and their ‘ Little Peoples menu’ has fresh and homemade options.

All desserts are homemade with the warm chocolate brownie a popular favourite.

Guests can either eat in the restaurant and take in the fantastic views of Sligo Bay, Coney and Oyster Islands and Knocknarea, or choose the bar lounge areas where the open fires are a huge draw.
