Broke his neck

-

A man accused of handling stolen property and the unlawful possession of drugs has “turned a corner in his life” after breaking his neck last November.

24- year- old Glen McDermott of Knappaghmore, Strandhill Road appeared before Judge Kevin Kilrane at Sligo District Court last week.

He is accused of the offences at 58 Knappaghmore on November 12th 2015.

A Probation Report handed up to Judge Kilrane was “reasonably positive.”

His defence solicitor Mr Tom MacSharry said McDermott had broken his neck in November 2016 and that was why he was wearing a collar. He said his client had “turned a corner” and was “starting to mature a lot.” “He was in prison before and doesn’t want to go back. He’s lucky to be alive after the accident,” he added.

Judge Kilrane remanded McDermott on continuing bail for preparation of an updated Probation Report on November 9th next.
