Sligo footbridge to be named after the NW Hospice
THE Footbridge over the Garavogue River at Stephen’s Street Car- Park will be officially named “Bridge of Light” in memory of all those loved and lost in North West Hospice services over the years.
In a partnership with Sligo County Council and Comhaltas the unveiling ceremony will take place at 4pm this Saturday. The event will be part of the Sligo Fleadh Weekend celebrations with hospice fundraising, music and street entertainment in Stephen’s Street Car Park from 3pm until late.
Nuala Ginnelly, NW Hospice Manager said; “With an ageing population, an increased incidence of cancer in Ireland, and a growing number of referrals from the non- malignant population, the demand for North West Hospice services has never been greater. Demand for our services has grown by 35% since 2011. We now need to fundraise in excess of € 1 million each year to meet this need which we cannot do without the support of our entire community.”
