Work is underway on a new walkway in Ballymote Park

-

BALLYMOTE Community Enterprise Ltd has recently been awarded funding allocated from the Arigna Enterprise Fund with the help of local TD Mr Eamon Scanlon.

This funding will go towards the development of the new walkway from Gurteen Road to Keenaghan and will be an extension of the present walkway through Ballymote Town Park.

A spokesperson for the group explains: “The bridge to link each side of the Mill Race has been erected and sponsored by Jim and the Cawley Family, in memory of close family members who worked in the Corn Mill during the 1800- 1900’ s.”

She adds: “The Ballymote Community Enterprise is a voluntary organisation responsible for the development of the Ballymote Town Park. “The group has done a huge amount of work since first forming in 1990. We are delighted to get this project going.”

Local contractors Asgard Plant & Haulage Ltd from Ballymote began the ground work last week.
