IT students payman¤ 3k

Two IT Sligo students have paid ¤ 3,000 in compensation to a fellow student they were accused of assaulting in a city nightclub.

Shane Lynn ( 21) of Cluain A Tobair, Irishtown, Claremorris, Co Mayo and James Noone ( 21) of Newtownwhite, Killala, Co. Mayo had been charged with assaulting Mr Oisín Cogan in Sixth on Teeling on October 23rd 2015.

Defence solicitor Mr Gerard McGovern told the court the incident happened in a nightclub when his clients were socialising with a group of people.

He handed into court ¤ 1,500 from each defendant for the alleged victim.

Judge Kilrane noted the compensation and struck out the charges against both men.
