Enniscrone maths teacher wins award for Studyclix. ie
An Enniscrone maths teacher has won an award at this year’s National Enterprise Awards for his innovative website Studyclix. ie.
Luke Saunders was presented with the North West Regional award by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny, the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Mary Mitchell O’Connor and the Minister of State for Employment and Small Business, Pat Breen at a black- tie ceremony in the Mansion House.
Studyclix. ie was set up by Saunders, who is a Maths and Science teacher at Jesus and Mary Secondary School in Enniscrone, Co. Sligo. With over 100,000 registered students and 26,000 registered teachers, Studyclix is now Ireland’s largest study and teaching website.
It sorts all the past junior and leaving certificate exams into topics and, for each question, gives students access to tutorial videos, marking schemes and sample answers to help them improve their performance in exams.
“We are delighted to have won this prestigious award and to be recognised in this way nationally. It is particularly pleasing to get acknowledgement from the respected panel of judges who asked very insightful questions about our business so we felt they under- stood what we are trying to achieve at Studyclix. We are so grateful to the Sligo LEO office for its assistance since we set up. The funding we received in the early stages and the mentoring we have been given is a huge part of our success today,” said Saunders. Representatives of Local Enterprise Office and Sligo County Council, Stephen Walshe and Ciarán Hayes were also at the event organised by Local Enterprise Offices.
