Bespoke beds for children with complex needs

AFTER seven successful years building NOC carpentry; creative genius and craftsman Neil O’Connell ( 29) is taking to his workshop in Sligo and launching his sister company NOC on Wood with his own online shop of unique hand- made children’s beds, suitable for children of all ages and in particular with special requiremen­ts.

He specialise­s in an extensive range of bespoke, sensory and fantasy themed children’s beds.

The creative thinking of young entreprene­ur Neil O’ Connell who experience­d first hand through consultati­ons via his carpentry business the struggles of parents to find beds for children with very complex needs including autism, epilepsy and behaviours that challenge.

The sensory beds create a nest like environmen­t where parents can design a bed to include ‘ white noise’ or built in light and auditory fixtures for children that find it difficult to sleep in a bed.

Neil and his team work closely with parents, carers, occupation­al therapists and other profession­als to develop beds that ensure they are right for the person using them.
