Bespoke beds for children with complex needs
AFTER seven successful years building NOC carpentry; creative genius and craftsman Neil O’Connell ( 29) is taking to his workshop in Sligo and launching his sister company NOC on Wood with his own online shop of unique hand- made children’s beds, suitable for children of all ages and in particular with special requirements.
He specialises in an extensive range of bespoke, sensory and fantasy themed children’s beds.
The creative thinking of young entrepreneur Neil O’ Connell who experienced first hand through consultations via his carpentry business the struggles of parents to find beds for children with very complex needs including autism, epilepsy and behaviours that challenge.
The sensory beds create a nest like environment where parents can design a bed to include ‘ white noise’ or built in light and auditory fixtures for children that find it difficult to sleep in a bed.
Neil and his team work closely with parents, carers, occupational therapists and other professionals to develop beds that ensure they are right for the person using them.
