A HOST OF FABULOUS MUSICIANS TO HIT OUR STREETS
THE long weekend in June sees the County Fleadh return to Sligo town – the first time since 1995! Prepare to see a frenzy of competitors scurrying here there and everywhere carrying instruments of all sorts.
Saturday and Sunday afternoon will see outdoor entertainment at Stephens Street car park. A host of fabulous musicians will perform on the gig rig. This is part of a unique collaboration of Comhaltas, Sligo County Council, the Northwest Hospice and the Sligo Leader partnership. It represents musicians from throughout the county giving their time totally voluntarily to raise funds for the Hospice. Sligo County Council are part funding the event but are also taking the opportunity to name the footbridge at Rockwood Parade. The cathaoirleach Councillor Hubert Keaney will formally name the footbridge – The Bridge of Light at 4pm on Saturday 3rd June in Stephens Street.
Here is Comhaltas giving back to the community; the hospice making provision for our community in their time of need and the Council and Leader quietly coordinating and facilitating. Be sure to come along to enjoy the entertainment, to support the hospice and show your thanks to the entertainers and volunteers giving time and talent to build the community and deliver quality essential services.
The Fleadh has a week long programme which has already commenced on Saturday last. Be part of it! Continue the unique relationship – Sligo town, Fleadh Cheoil and Volunteerism!
