Captain Cummins makes U21 Team of the Year

HE was an integral part of Paul Taylor’s Connacht runners- up in the final U21 Championship this year. Sligo captain Darragh Cummins ( inset) was duly awarded for his stellar season by being named on the EirGrid U21 Team of the Year. Aaron Byrne from the eventual winners Dublin was awarded the EirGrid U21 Player of the Year.

Cummins led Sligo their Connacht nal in five years they put an epic formance Galway in the Markievicz Park.

It was a disappoint- ing result for Sligo, as they couldn’t see past Galway in extra- time to claim their first and the competition’s last U21 honours. The Calry/ St Joseph’s man was being congratulated after the selection was revealed last week. Sligo GAA said: “Congrats to our u21 captain Darragh Cummins on making u21 team of championship. Top quality.”
