LOTTO DRAW

The Geevagh Community Resource lotto draw was held in Shivnan’s Bar on Saturday, May 20, for a jackpot of € 7,300. The numbers drawn were 8, 14, 25 and 28. There was no winner.

The next draw for a jackpot of € 7,400 will be held on Saturday, May 27, in Paddy’s Bar.

The winners of € 20 each were Fidelma Lavin, Geevagh; Emer Conlon, Ballygawle­y; Brid and Kay Cunnane, Geevagh; Teresa Shivnan, Ballyfarno­n and Terrie McDonagh, Annaghgowa­n.

PADDY JOE CONLON R. I. P.

The death occurred at Sligo Hospital last week of Paddy Joe Conlon, Knockroe, Geevagh. The late Paddy Joe was in his 94th year and had lived at home till a short time before his passing. He was predecease­d by his late wife, Molly.

His remains were removed from Shivnan’s Funeral Home on Wednesday evening to St Joseph’s Church, Geevagh and the funeral followed on Thursday morning after 11 a. m. Mass to Kilmactran­ny cemetery.

Deepest sympathy is extended to his sons John Joe and Ronan, daughters Evelyn, Mary and Patricia, grandchild­ren, in laws and family circle.

COMMUNITY GAMES

The Community Games were held recently and the committee wish to thank all the young people who took part in the various events. They are grateful to all those who lined the track and helped with the running of the games. Best wishes to all who have qualified for the county finals which will be held over the summer.

HIGHWOOD CAKE SALE

Highwood Mission Group held their annual cake sale in Highwood Community Centre on Good Friday. It was a resounding success and raised € 1,600. This money will be distribute­d directly to various missions in Africa, South America and Ireland, and without doubt will bring relief to less fortunate people.

The Mission Group wishes to acknowledg­e with deep gratitude all who baked and gave generous donations, those that helped before and on the day selling cakes and tickets and all who tidied afterwards. May you all be rewarded.

MASS IN THE GRAVEYARDS

The celebratio­n of mass in the parish graveyards starts in Ballindoon on Sunday, June 4, at 7.30 p. m., then Foyogues on June 11 at 3 p. m.; Corrig on June 18 at 7.30 p. m. and Kilmactran­ny on June 25 at 7.30 p. m.

HISTORIC GRAVES

A project to document the graves in the old part of the graveyard is under way.

The first stage is completed and pictures of the headstones and slabs is available to view on the Historic Graves website – historicgr­aves. com/ graveyard/ kilmactran­ny/ sl- kmty the next phase, which is ongoing, is to record all the data on the tombstones and this too will be available on the site. The oldest found was a small two- foot square cross dating to 1682.

HONDA 50 CLUB RUN

The Geevagh Honda 50 Club Run takes place on Sunday, June 18, registrati­on is in Paddy’s from 10.30 a. m. with the ‘ off’ at 12.30 p. m. All 50’ s, 70’ s, 90’ s and big bikes welcome. Refreshmen­ts afterwards and lots of spot prizes. All in aid of local charities. Contact John at 086 3125293.
