Baling challenge on Bank Holiday

-

The 8.30am start did not deter spectators from turning out to witness the 32 County Baling Challenge near Tubbercurry at the weekend.

For two hours, operators of four tractors and balers worked tirelessly as part of an All- Ireland challenge to bale in every county in the country in just six days.

One of the organisers of the Sligo leg Michael Brennan said:

“A couple of hundred people came out to Moylough for the event. Weather wise we were very lucky as the rain held off while they were there between 8.30 and 10am. The four expert balers made approximately 100 bails in every county over six days. It was the first time this challenge was done and it was all for children’s charities.

“You have to really take your hats off to the men and women who did this challenge. There were about 16 involved in total. It is a credit to them. They took a week out of their lives to go around and do that for charity.”

There was great support for the event locally and in excess of € 9,000 was collected in Sligo.
