Salon 2 planning major expansion
SALON 2 hairdressing salon are planning a major expansion of their premises on Adelaide Street.
Owners Anthony and Deirdre Kilcoyne have submitted plans to Sligo County Council for a large two- phase development from 1- 7 Adelaide Street.
The proposed development if approved, will see that section of the street given a facelift.
In Phase 1, existing residential terraced houses at No.’ s 1 and 2 Adelaide Street will be turned into retail units.
They will be given new openings to the front, new modern timber shop fronts, amalgamated into one larger unit and given a new two- storey extension to the rear.
The premises at No.’ s 3 and 4 will be amalgamated with No. 5 ( the existing Salon 2) to form one large salon and barbers.
They will also be given new openings, a new shop front, and a new two storey extension to the back of No.’ s 3 and 4.
Original stone work to the front of No.’ s 1, 2 and 6 and 7 will be exposed and re- pointed.
Phase 2 of the project will see No.’ s 6 and 7 Adelaide Street amalgamated into one large retail unit, also with new shop front, new gable window facing South ( towards the Cathedral), new shop front and a new roof to the rear.
There will be new large windows inserted to the front and rear of units 3,4 and 5 which will become a new larger Salon 2.
Salon 2, trading as Ardforton Ltd, submitted the plans, designed by Jim Sheridan of JS Architectural Services, to the Council on May 23rd.
