Cook lands Wigan job
FORMER Sligo Rovers manager Paul Cook has made the move from Portsmouth to Wigan. The announcement came on Wednesday after speculation the 50- yearold Liverpool native was about to take over at Wigan following the departure of Warren Joyce.
Cook is fondly remembered for his successful spell as Rovers boss, where he guided the club to two FAI Cups, a League Cup and a second place finish.
He signed a three- year contract with Wigan after he saw Portsmouth winning the League Two title last year.
The manager also had a successful spell with Chesterfield in 2013/ 14. He saw them claim the League Two title that season.
Cook is familiar with Wigan having made 95 appearances for them as a player.
He said after the appointment that it was an exciting move for him and he is looking forward to getting to know his squad and staff.
