We are continuing with positive actions for the all- Ireland Pollinator Plan and with the sun shining its great to get outside and enjoy the good weather. To give our bees and butterflies the best chance of surviving in their nesting areas, we are not cutting the grass as frequently and we ask that if at all possible, you might consider doing the same.
Some areas around our town are being left uncut from June right through to Septemeber to manage best for the wildlife. These areas are: along the river walk from crystal factory to back of Mill Falls, the wildlife garden off the Fairgreen, both sides of the Barrack road as you reach Collooney Roundabout and also the green area just before going under the bypass bridge on way down to Union. We hope you appreciate our efforts to provide for our pollinators and take some to time to also to appreciate the abundance of beautiful nature around us.
Collooney Tidy Towns are preparing their entry into this year’s national competition and are busy with litter pick- ups, painting, weed control etc. We appeal to all residents to undertake some extra cleaning around their properties.
The main streets and square have been swept clean and we encourage and inform all business throughout the town to continue to keep the areas outside premises clean and litter- free.
We sincerly appreciate all the help and assistance we get in keeping our town tidy. We are always looking for new people to get involved and if you would like to join us, even for an evenings clean- up, you would be more than welcome to come out with us any wednesday evening, meeting at the square at 7 p. m.
