1960 MINOR REUNION

An informal gathering of the 1960 Ballymote Minor Gaelic Football squad will take place in Doddy’s Lounge on Friday, July 14, at 8.15 p. m. This event will take place under the auspices of Balllymote GAA Club. Ballymote were the 1960 Sligo Minor champions.

According to newspaper reports in September 1960 the squad members were as follows: Denis Kennedy, Jim Sreenan, Justin Henry RIP, Thomas Keenan, Paddy Cunney, Stepho Benton, Tommy McCann, Brendan Coleman, Brendan Benton RIP, Shane Gilhawley, Joe McGovern, Neal Farry, Paddy Prior, Seán Davey, Marcus Henry, Pat Rogers, Liam Kerins, Peadar Brennan, Raphael Cassidy, Jim Donohue, Vincent Hever, Séamus Fahey and David Martin. Alfie Banks was the coach and John Kivlehan RIP, Joe O’Hara RIP and Eugene Gilhawley RIP were the selectors.

There is a small bit of unfinished business involving this squad. Every effort will be made during the coming weeks to ensure that all surviving squad members will be aware of this occasion.

The annual church gate collection for Cancer Care was held at Doo Church on Sunday, May 20, € 199.86 was raised, thank you to everyone who contribute­d.

Congratula­tions to the parents of Kai Patrick Savage- Cunnane, who was baptised recently in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Ballymote.

LOTTO

There was no winner of the Ballymote lotto jackpot on May 27 Numbers drawn were 6, 11, 12 and 28. There were two matchthree winners, name of winners are displayed locally. The jackpot now stands at € 6,400. The next draw will take place in the Coach House Hotel on Saturday, June 10. Thank you for your continued support.
