Enniscrone ease to victory

ENNISCRONE/ KILG 2- 18 SHAMROCK GAELS 0- 08 ENNISCRONE/ KILGLASS accounted for the challenge of Shamrock Gaels at Coola last Saturday evening, in round seven of the Fureys Coaches Division Three league. The west Sligo side, though depleted, were always in control of this tie and an improved second half display saw them end as comfortabl­e winners.

The winners held a 1- 9 to 0- 6 half- time advantage, with their goal coming seconds into the game when Mark Gordon drove forward from the throw- in to finish to the net.

Brian Coleman kicked some good points in the opening half, while Kevin Cawley was also effective for the winners.

Shamrock Gaels welcomed back Paul Higgins following an injury lay- off, and he was amongst their best performers throughout the hour. Eoin Carroll kicked the home team’s best first half score, but they trailed by six points at the break.

After the restart it was mostly one- way traffic with Enniscrone/ Kilglass in control. Brian Coleman added a second goal early in the half to end the game as a contest, while Chris Tuffy kicked the visitors best point with ten minutes remaining. Shamrock Gaels only registered two second half points, as Enniscrone/ Kilglass ended as 17- point winners.
