Sligo suffer narrow loss in Celtic Challenge

SLIGO played Mayo in the final group game of the Celtic Challenge in Markievicz Park. THE final score was Sligo 3- 9, Mayo 2- 14. As one would expect this match between two local rivals was highly competitiv­e with the final result in doubt till deep in injury time. SLIGO were first off the mark with a goal from Roan Conneely. It was Mayo who dominated the next period with 1- 4 from play before Sligo’s next score, a point from a free by Andrew Kilcullen. Sligo got a second goal before half time from Kevin O’Kennedy and at half time the score read Mayo 1- 9, Sligo 2- 4. SLIGO added a third goal. Mayo kept in touch adding on points.
