IT was Super Saturday for our girls U12 footballer­s who lifted the Sligo U12 ‘ A’ Plate title with an impressive victory over Eastern Harps in the final at Markievicz Park. The girls came from 5- 1 down in the first quarter to win by 11 points at the finish in what was marvellous team display with every player playing her part. Particular thanks go to the parents and families for their encouragem­ent and support this season. IT was a good bank- holiday weekend all round for our various teams in action with the senior men’s footballer­s beating St Mary’s in Division 1 by 0- 17 to 1- 9 at Oxfield to collect two valuable league points. This was a solid team performanc­e with Paul Logan showing a welcome return to form from frees, contributi­ng 0- 7 on the day while there were also encouragin­g displays from Cian Lally at midfield ( 0- 2) and Niall Collery ( 0- 3) in attack. The league now takes a break for a few weeks while the county team begins its All- Ireland qualifier campaign. THE draw for Round 1A, which includes Sligo, will be made this Tuesday morning, June 6th, on RTE Radio 1’ s Morning Ireland programme at 8: 35am. A last- minute goal from Donal Gallagher gave the junior men’s footballer­s their third win in a row at home to Coolera/ Strandhill in Division 4 on Saturday evening on a final scoreline of 2- 10 to 0- 15. The juniors currently top the table and travel to play Curry this Saturday evening at 7: 30pm. OUR girls U14 footballer­s recorded their second win of the league campaign last Tuesday evening with an impressive 13- 13 to 3- 6 success away to Geevagh. They play St Farnan’s this Wednesday ( June 6th) in Oxfield at 7pm. THE boys U14 footballer­s host St Molaise Gaels at Oxfield in Division 1 on Thursday evening at 7pm. OUR boys U12 football teams travelled to Carraroe last Tuesday to play St John’s in the league. Our Division 1 team lost narrowly by 0- 14 to 0- 11 while our Division 3 team won their game on a final scoreline of 0- 17 to 0- 8. BENBULBEN Gaels U12 hurlers played Naomh Eoin in a very entertaini­ng league match at Oxfield last Monday evening with the visitors emerging victorious by 8 points to 5. The team plays Tubbercurr­y this Tuesday evening. CONGRATS to the talented artists from the Rosses Point and Drumcliffe areas who won a string of gold medals at the County Sligo Community Games Art & Model Making finals last Saturday. The winners included: CHARLENE Siriwardan­e ( Girls U10 Model Making) CIARA Henry ( Girls U12 Art) ZAC Henry ( Boys U12 Model Making) JOE Campbell ( Boys U12 Art) RÍAN O’Callaghan ( Boys U14 Art) DESMOND Gillen ( Boys U16 Art). DRUMCLIFFE Handball Club held a very successful Annual Draw last week at Davis’s Restaurant. Congrats to Catherine Coggins who was the winner of the top prize.
