LAST Friday in glorious sunshine Ballymote GAA Club received an inaugural visit from GAA President Aogan O Fearghaill and his wife Francis. He visited Knoackminn­a National School and Ballymote National School and both schools put on an array of entertainm­ent of singing, dancing and showing off their Gaelic football skills. He received many questions from the pupils and they were inspired with his responses.

He then visited Corran PK and was welcomed by Irish music from local musicians Pat Curley, Padraig Keirins, Jimmy Naughton and Fr. James McDonagh. Sean- nos dancing from the Keirins family followed. Chairman Frank Gallagher addressed the crowd and welcomed President Aogan and his wife. Bord na Og chairman Liam Boland acknowledg­ed Neal Farry’s lifelong contributi­on to Ballymote GAA club and a presentati­on was made to Neal by GAA President Aogan O Feraghaill. GAA President then addressed the crowd and spoke about the importance of Gaelic activities in our community, regular coaching, be ambitious and enjoy playing Gaelic games. Francis O Fearghaill and Grace Farry were presented with flowers by club secretary Maria White. A special Thanks to musicians, dancers, committee members, sponsors, parents, players, Michael Boyle and GAA President for making this visit a truly memorable occasion. It can only lift the spirits for our club and many positives were taken from this visit.

Junior team continue their winning run beating Easkey last Saturday and we now share top spot with Enniscrone/ Kilglass who we play next Sunday 11th June in Corran Pk at 1pm.

U 14 play Owenmore Gaels 8th June in Corran Pk at 7pm.

U 12/ 11 play their rearranged game against Owenmore Geals in Collooney 6th June at 7pm.

U 10/ 8 play Shannon Gaels from Roscommon 7th June at 7pm in Corran Pk.

Good luck to all Leaving Cert and Junior Cert pupils who are commencing their exams next Wednesday.
