Meet the Maker events in abundance for annual Craftfest

SLIGO’S craft maker’s retailers and galleries are hosting a range of meet the designer events and exhibition­s throughout the upcoming Craftfest North West.

Teach Ban Gallery in Drumcliff will offer an opportunit­y to meet the many textile makers in their network as part of the “IMPRINT” exhibition which opens on June 9th and closes on June 29th.

Cait and I in Market Cross will host the launch of a suite of new limited edition prints by Lynn Costello of “The Pear in Paper” at a special event from 4- 6pm on Tuesday June 16th. Lynn will be on- hand to talk about her work and inspiratio­n that evening. Cait and I are also stockists of Deirdre Duffy’s Cocoon Collection. Deirdre will be featuring in the Conversati­ons With Designers event at The Factory on Thursday June 15th.

The Cat and The Moon is hosting the launch of a stunning new collection from multi- award winning contempora­ry jewellery designer Blaithin Ennis. Blaithin will be in store from 12- 4pm on Saturday June 17th. Internatio­nally renowned film and fashion designer Una Burke, who will be appearing as one of the festival highlights, will have an instore exhibition of her iconic leather wearables at The Cat and the Moon for the festival run.

Artist and Gallerist Tessa Marsden will be on hand to meet visitors to the exhibition “Ceramics and Nature” which she has curated at The Dovecote Gallery in Cloghereva­gh.

The Craftfest Northwest Programme is replete with opportunit­ies to meet and greet Sligo’s wealth of craft makers via the Made In Sligo Craft Trail. Made In Sligo members will be offering a range of hands- on workshops during the festival.
