Explore world of angling at training event
THE four- month- long salmon and sea trout season is in full swing since it opened on the Garavogue on Thursday June 1st.
Local angler Ollie Conlon caught the first salmon of the season the same day. It made a good start to the season which will see the Salmon and Sea Trout Recreational Anglers of Ireland host an “introduction to fishing” event on Sunday 25th June. Expert fishermen on hand to demonstrate fly fishing techniques.
The event runs from 11am- 2pm at Ósta café and all equipment will be supplied for the training.
The annual Garavogue Salmon Fishing Festival will run from 1- 14th July. Trophies will be presented for best fish, best fish caught by a female and by a juvenile angler on the final day.
