-

A short film produced locally by a Sligo cast and crew has just been nominated for an award in the Bangalore Film Festival in India.

The movie short about domestic violence called ‘ Change the Conversation’ has already done extremely well on the film festival circuit both at home and abroad.

It received rave reviews recently at the Fastnet Film Festival in Cork. Writer Marilyn O’Connor who is based in Castlebaldwin says: “Since its Launch in November 2016 this short film received over 17000 views on facebook within the first 10 days of its release.

“It won a competition in Dublin and received automatic entry into the Fastnet Film Festival in Cork. Although it was not nominated it was shown over the 4 days of the festival and received rave reviews.”

A delighted Marilyn continues: “When I returned from Cork I received an email to say that Change The Conversation had been officially nominated for an award in the Bangalore Film Festival in India.

“This is a great honor as my film was self funded on a shoestring budget and filmed in a rural part of Sligo Castlebaldwin. It’s an honour to be nominated.”

Marilyn says: “To be getting the message of Domestic Violence out there across the world is just wonderful, and for me as the writer director I feel very humbled by the whole experience.”
