St. Mary’s are very proud of their achievements throughout the years
ST. MARY’S Community Games is an amalgamation of Maugheraboy and K. C. A. Both areas were very strong in their own right, but with mounting pressure for playing pitches and facilities, it was felt that an amalgamation was the best way forward.
Down through the years, there have been numerous people who have given their all to Community Games within the area.
The area have produced two National Presidents; Joe Burke ( deceased) and in later years Miceal Curley. Miceal is still very involved in the area and is also Vice President in the County. The fact that two National Presidents came from the same area is quite unique.
Roger Eames ( deceased) was a stalwart in St. Mary’s. He was President of the area for many years and there is now a road in the area named after him.
Gerry Mitchell and Pat Curley, both deceased are two people who come to mind when you mention KCA and Maugheraboy. They now live on as there is a park named after them.
St. Mary’s can be proud of their achievements and no doubt with the calibre of people who are in place at the moment, the area will continue to grow from strength to strength.
