More than 300 ready for Mullaghmore Tri
THIS weekend will see hundreds of competitors head to North Sligo for the Mullaghmore Triathlon on Saturday.
This event attracts top athletes from across the country and has grown significantly over the years.
Local Team Ireland swimmer, Mona McSharry, will be there to present medals.
Mona is busy preparing for the upcoming European Juniors and Worlds this summer.
Liz McMorrow, one of the organisers with the MSC Tri Club, said competitor numbers are up on previous years for Saturday’s event.
She added: “Entry is up this year with in excess of 320 entered.
“We’re also delighted to have sold out our Junior Aquathlon and will have 50 8- 15 year olds competing in this swim run race.
“Local girl, Mona McSharry, in advance of her competing in the World Championship and Junior European Championships this summer, will be presenting medals to the kids as they cross the line.
“We’re looking forward to another great day in Mullaghmore and everyone is welcome,” Liz added.
